Welcome!

To the bodymind project.

Through yoga theory and practice, philosophy, psychology and an anthropologist’s toolkit, I research all things bodymind and share some of my findings here in a way that is accessible and relevant to the life of a modern householder.

— Anna Freud

The bodymind — approaches to understanding it range from South Asian schools of thought such as Sāṃkhya, Advaita Vedānta or Trika Śaivism to Western scientific materialism. Anna takes an anthropological lens to study yoga philosophy and psychology at SOAS London and through independent research. Her focus is on the bodymind and consciousness, and she is inspired by the philosophy of the 10th c. Indian thinker Abhinavagupta.

Anna has worked with Mind PTP and NHS Open Minds projects, and is a member of SOAS Centre of Yoga Studies. For her non-academic articles see the Journal and OM Yoga Magazine, and reach out on hello@yogavale.com with any questions, to collaborate or practice.
